[V6-12v] heater core?

Sounds like the heater core is leaking....
Not 100% sure by your description, but... if you open
the hood, take of the plastic cover off where the
wipers are there is a black box about a foot square.
This is your heater box, yes the heater core is inside
that.
Your talking about a $100 for a new heater core and
the valve.
It's a 6-8 project to do... some caveats are the the
hoses under the dash, and getting all the flaps
correct when you split the box to swap the heater
core.
