Look at it this way , repacking CV joints is a maintanace item anywy. You
will not lose anything to take the CV joints off, clean them up and repack
them. You may find that one of your joints is chewed, worst case, that isn't
the problem and you have repacked your CV joints. As Tom said the outers are
rebuildable and i replaced mine since I had them out anyway. pretty painless
job really, just can be a little messy.
