[V6-12v] Light Switch and Cold Stat Screetching, Noise - Dealer Diagnosis

I am not sure about what an air fan is. I am guessing that this must be one of the turbines in the turbo assembly. I have been hearing an unusual sound when pressing the car hard and engaging the turbos - read mashing the accelerator and redlining the RPMs. I will test for that sound when I get the car back.

On another note, the light switch, the one that turns on the headlights, fog, etc., is in bad shape. It has scraped badly and it does not look good. Ssome of the designs on this switch are unidentifiable. Does anyone know where I can buy such a switch, besides the dealer. Has anyone had to replace this part and how hard is to do?

Thank you

Subject: [V6-12v] Cold Stat Screetching, Grinding, Raspy Noise - Dealer Diagnosis Results

The dealer called me today to tell me that the noise is produced by the "secondary air pump". As the service person explained it to me, there is an air pump bearing that goes bad and makes this horrible noise. He ordered a new one and I should have the car ready by the end of the week.

I looked at the VAG diagnosis tool and have surmised that I probably need the one with CAN in order to be able to use it with a 2002 A6, a 1995 90S, and the possibility that I may buy a Jetta or Bug for my daughter next year. I will have to build a computer for the garage - I do have enough parts to do that with comfortable processor resources. The one thing that I don't like about the tool is the price. At $349 it is not cheap - considering that the code tool for my 1999 BMW 740 cost only $149.00.

Any suggestions are appreciated and thank you for your help.
