[V6-12v] Pinking under light throttle

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know if it's possible to remove/replace the knock sensors
without removing the intake manifold? The ignition manual is pointing me
toward a special tool (a very long ball tipped hex socket), and there look
to be little access holes in the intake manifold around where the knock
sensors would be, so I'm guessing you may be able to get them in and out
without the manifold being removed...
