Yes, the reservoir is under pressure also, and I believe the system is 
supposed to vent at around 15 psi. I've seen my mechanic pressure test the 
coolant system and what they use is a cap that replaces the regular pressure 
cap and they have an air hose with a meter connected to it. You probably can 
pick up a home version of a pressure tester from a flaps, or rig up something 
with an old cap, hose and pump.
