[V6-12v] Power steering hoses between reservoir and "cooler"...

The clamps I first used were a little wide and not very "round", so I bought
some thinner, full-circle clamps (fuel injection hose clamps), and the
leaking appears to have stopped. Which would be a good thing...as I don't
want to spend $160 on two hoses. I'll drive it a bit and then check it
again.

Thanks,

Austin

Hi Brian,

True, only one comes from the reservoir...but all the same, mine seem to be
saturated and leaking through the rubber where they attach to the metal ends
of the "cooler". I did put new hose clamps on both hoses, but they are
still leaking.

Interesting about the internal metal sleeve. I hadn't noticed that...but I
haven't really looked.

Thanks for the info!

Regards,

Austin

only one goes to the reservoir from the cooler, look again. one comes from
the rack to the bottle, then the bottle to the cooler then the cooler to the
pump. one of the lines, if you look again, has a hose clamp in the middle of
it, there is a metal sleeve inside that changes teh pressure of the fliud
running threw it. if you think you need new hoses because yours is leaking
at the ends, just cut off the clamp that is on there and put 2 little
regular hose clamps on each end. if you can grab your hose and turn it, that
is where and shy its leaking. the smaller crimp clamps do not last forever.
                                                               brian o'

There is a little (kind of silly) power steering cooler that has two
rubber
hoses running from the reservoir to it. Is there anything special about
those lines? The dealer price on them is really high ($97 & $62), and
we're
talking about 4 feet of 1/2 hose here. The clamps are just crimp clamps.
I'm curious if anyone here has replaced those, and if so, what did you
use?
