Rob,
I typed up a switch replacement procedure many (6-7) years ago. You might be
able to find it from an author search in the archives...
This is for a 1994 90S (should be the same on yours):
You cannot reach the switch from the bottom. You have to replace it through
the dash.
1) Remove airbag (be careful, follow procedure)
2) Remove steering wheel
3) Remove cowling around column switches
4) Remove instrument cluster (replace burnt out bulbs if applicable)
5) Disconnect ignition switch from harness (big connector at the rear of the
switch)
6) Loosen two setscrews holding the ignition switch in place
7) Slide out switch
Assembly is reverse of removal. My original procedure write-up had all the
torques needed for the various bolts/screws. The procedure is also very well
described in the Bentley Manual.
There's a bit of thread locking compound on the setscrews. But that's pretty
easy to remove with a screwdriver. No drilling needed. I didn't have any
issues getting the screws out.
