[V6-12v] Autocheck sound failure in 95 A6 Avant

Okay another odd problem for this car.

There are no audible alarms for anything.  Autocheck does not beep.  There is no chime when you leave the keys in the ignition or the lights/radio on.

Autocheck itself works with the indicators.  I saw both low coolant and low fuel icons show up, plus I set the speed alarm and it triggered as well, but none of those had the customary beeping that accompanies it.

So I am sorta stumped as to what direction to go in.  I did some research but couldn't find anything really helpful online about this.  Suggestions?
