[V8] speedo whacko

    A while back my speedo started the typical death dance where it 
intermittently cuts out so I did the usual trick of reseating the connectors. 
That seemed to make it better for a few days, then it started again. This time 
I tore the whole IC apart and re-seated everything I could find. It got 
immediately worse. Next I actually removed the speedo from the IC housing for a 
good inspection, and resoldered the four connections on both the speedo and the 
circuit board. It still cuts out. My symptoms seem a little different than most 
in that once it stops working, no amount of beating on it will bring it back. I 
have the crash pad off and can wiggle the black connector and that does no 
good. I an getting convinced the problem is actually the speedo unit itself. 
Has anyone else had this problem? 
Has the contact enhancer trick solved this for good for anyone? 
Has anyone else had the speed sender fail?
