Scott Mockry's website has detailed information on what the V8's
Instrument Cluster is responsible for (yes, interior lighting) and how
to test it:

If you have ever pulled the codes using an LED, this test is the same
method. If not, let me tell you that this is VERY easy. Details are on
Scott's site.

The problems that other T44s have with their instrument clusters
(circuit board cracking, going bad) don't apply to the V8; different
animal. I think it is fairly rare to *have to* replace the instrument
cluster. Most can be fixed for $10 (the cost of a can of de-oxidizer)
and a few hours on a Saturday. First time might take someone about 4
hrs, I can probably do it in 1.5 having had some practice. :-)

HTH,

However, would change this sometimes if people can verify if the
interior lighting delay switch is tied to the cluster.
