[V8] AC compressor + bushings

The 91 v8 (automatic) went into the shop (private VW/Audi-no dealer) for 
servicing yesterday. No AC since it quickly died last summer, and it was
determined to be (a) some bad electrics leading to a (b) dead AC compressor
(hotwired it and no life) with seemingly (c) slowly leaking R134 (it's been
converted.) Any resource for a 2nd hand AC compressor? Mechanics quote
started at $500 but he didn't know how 'high' it might go.

Asked the mechanic to have a look at rear suspension, which has been creaky.
He said that practically ALL of the rear bushings are shot, and would need
replacement. Mechanic says these are dealer-only items, and is supposed to
get back today with some pricing. His 1st guesstimate was $500 and up? Any
thoughts for sourcing these? Thanks much in advance.
