[V8] V8Q Auto Xmission Leakage

Tis the season for red stuff to leak. 
Walt, I have this exact problem, and have been sweating it, not fixing it yet.
About two weeks ago I noticed red stuff leaking from the passenger side trans/differential bell housing area. 
*New info:  Jurgen, a helpful parts guy at the ZF Auto Trans parts distributor, Jaggi Automotive, suggested that I try to determine if the leak is coming from the vent. . . . just as you have determined. 
Amazing coincidence. 
Now, Dave Head, please tell us more.  What Pump? internal to the Auto Trans? I don't wrench myself, so I need some more info so I can describe this to my local shop, (with V8 experience, but he is recommending a rebuild...)

What you have is a high pressure leak inside the case. Could be in a 
variety of places, but from another's recent repair following rebuild it 
may very well be the seal for the pump. In his case the rebuilder had to 
take it apart and machine the sealing surface. I have one in my garage 
that does the exact same thing...
