[V8] V8 suddenly running like a coffee grinder above 1700 rpm

Have you looked into the TPS?, just a thought.  I would also check the
temp sensors, the oxs and maby the mass air.  Quick check on the oxs would
be to unplug it, it would trigger the check engine light, but would run
fairly well, at least it would rule that out easily!
