[V8] Engine Oil Quantity

With no change in the dipstick does this mean that I've been filling my 91 up 
to 10 qts whenever I've checked the oil level and topped up? I definitely 
have only put in 8 1/2 qts when I've had the filter changed, but after that 
whenever I've checked the oil level I've always gone by the dipstick. Should 
I be using he "min" level as the indicator for 8 1/2 qts rather than mid way 
on the dipstick?
