... I too have noticed on #344 that keeping the oil level near the bottom of
the acceptable range shown on the dipstick results in considerably less oil
consumption and fewer smoke screens on start up. #2 with the newer engine
seems to run fine and consume no oil with the level near the top. Running
the level near the bottom of the dipstick does mean that you need to keep a
much closer eye on the level ...
