[V8] Knock Sensor Wire Insulation

Glad the list is back up!

The left knock sensor (on the outside of the block, brown connector on
the IM) wire insulation is in bad shape-can see the shield in several
places.  The insulation doesn't look like the one on the other side,
either.  This on looks like it is a wrap, as opposed to a smooth jacket
on the right side.  Engine runs fine.

Question-can I wrap this w/ electrical tape (maybe spiral poly-Et= on
top), or is the heat too much?  If no, what should I use, or just
replace it?
