Definitely no turbo. What has your gas mileage been like lately? If it has
been around 10 MPG you might have a bad Oxygen Sensor. Start you car up and
rev the engine a couple of times while in park. Get out and see if you have
a nice soot mark in you driveway under your tail pipes, it's a pretty sure
bet it's the problem.
However, it could also be that you have some hydraulic fluid/oil in your
engine bay or on your exhaust that just hadn't burned off. Since you were
running the engine hotter than normal, it could just be burning off the
resdue.

Subject: [V8] fun with a BMW & smoke out the rear pipes
Listers,
Had a fun time racing a BMW a little bit ago,
passed him gettin off one highway to get onto another
din't think anything of it till I noticed a bright set
of headlights gaining on me
let him get up along side me & then I punched it &
noticed he was going with me
so to cut to the chase we were doing 140ish with him
behind me the whole time it was freaking great.
One thing I noticed though while stepping on it I was
getting smoke out the rear pipes quiet consistantly
(noticed cause of his bright lights),
got home & felt the inside of the rear pipes & noticed
alot of black sooty wet stuff.
Was I burning oil? Do I need to do the valve steam
seals?
I was gettin that on my 200tqa & had to replace the
steam seals, after ruling out the turbo. But as you
all now the V8 doesn't have a turbo (or does it?)
anyways anyone have any thoughts?.
Thanks
Ron
