I have the same symptoms - I haven't pulled it apart yet but I am guessing
on the two o-rings that go into the back of each head - it could be small
enough to just burn off without you seeing the smoke.  Pull the air box
and see if you can see anything wet down there.  I had a heater hose with
a pinhole in it about 6mo. ago - nice and hidden, had to let it get bigger
to find it!
