On your 1990, you have the older style AC controller with red LED figure
8s, (as opposed to the newer style with nice looking LCDs).

You can pull the codes very easily to figure out what the climate
control perceives the problem to be...

Hold down the outside temp button, and press the off button.  Channel
'01 will store the error codes.  If you get error 09, don't worry about
it (as per the manual) as your V8 was pre temp sensor under the cowl...
