[V8] Response to "Re-investing in my 93 V8Q"

Wow!
What a bunch of helpful people we have on this list.
Thanks to everyone who responded.
The Trip odometer is now working (with a little wiring repair).
The source of the oil leak is still under study but Roger Woodbury's 
words caused us to look further than just the head gaskets.
Thanks to the consistent use of synthetic oil, the valves look like new and the cams
have no tracks on them at all, amazing at 107K miles.
We are going to replace both front speakers with Audi re-builts.
Doctor says there is no signal from the left speaker assembly.

The Check engine light may be solved with improved grounding...thank you.
