Do not let the car idle for after placing the car in any forward gear.
 This is what caused the demise of #1's trans.
 
There is a documented design flaw that does not fully bleed down the
pressure on the forward clutch pack, after engaging a forward gear. 
The fix is drilling a 3/32" hole into the clutch backing plate.
 
I hope that the switch to synthetic trans fluid was not the culprit on
#1.  When I removed the trans pan & gasket there was plenty of clutch
and metalic particles in the pan.  That is why I do not like just
drain and fill method of fluid change.
