It's extremely fast when sitting at a light and relaxing your foot on the
brake, ask my wife! Luckly, she only hit the receiver hitch on the pick up
in front of her.

Is this what causes the "creep" at idle. My V8 will probably do 5-10 mph
with out touching the gas on level ground.

Creep at idle while in gear is a function of torque convertor slip/ vehicle
weight/ drive gearing/ etc etc.

Anytime the selector in an automatic is in gear at least one clutch pack
should be fully engaged. The only slip in the entire driveline under this
condition is the torque convertor.

1) Motronic will go out of its way to maintain idle speed of around 700rpm
2) V8's very tight torque convertor slip ratio at said 700 rpm
3) 4.11 final drive combined with whatever the first gear drive ratio is....

Easy to see why a V8 in gear at idle will move fairly fast on level ground.

BTDT.... broken throttle cable 2 miles from the shop on a country
road.....that idle creep may seem fast in your driveway but its very
slllooooowwwwww when you're limping back to the shop.
