[V8] Hydraulic system leakage

In '99, I had a ps pump failure (rare, but with huge leak).  Within two 
years, we'd replaced all the ps hoses.  Hose and o-ring failure seems common 
@ 10 yrs.  Working this disturbed that.  "Way back in the olden days" we 
used to replace all water hoses and ign wires every 3 years.  Current 
"rubber" seems good for 7 to 10 years.  Comments, anyone?
