AFM? Do you mean MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor? Didn't wash the engine bay
recently, did you (or the car wash)? Unplug the connector for the TPS
(throttle position sensor) located underneath the idle stabiliser and look
for moisture/corrosion. Clean the contacts, make sure everything is dry and
clean, reattach and see what happens.

Subject: [V8] idle, poor running, help?
My 91 V8qm was running perfectly except for an intermittent pesky high idle.
I replaced the ISV and the O2 sensor to no avail. Last week, the car
suddenly felt like it lost 100 hp, would not rev above 4000, and smelled
like sulfur. My mechanic towed the car to a colleague who pulled the code
for the AFM. Upon inspection, the AFM looked "fried." Sounds like the
problem? Not so fast. Yesterday the installation of a "new" used AFM changed
nothing. Any suggestions? BTW, this has been frustrating to the point that I
would consider selling the car to someone who knows them better and can
provide a proper home. It is black wit travertine sport seats, rare (1 of
79?) 5-speeds, 153K, $3,000.00 stereo, IA chip, full stebro, and got two
thumbs up from Keith and Bruce at audiconnection. I would consider mildly
insulting offers, but would certainly prefer to make it a keeper.
