[V8] Bose rear amps catch fire?

They replace my whole amp - speaker enclosure and all with a new (or perhaps
rebuilt) unit.
This probably only means that the soldered amps were either a different vendor
or were otherwise not affected by the bad caps.
These sort of problems are usually limited to specific date codes for the bad
parts. It happens all the time to us. Often with caps, but any component can be
defective in some subtle way.

I was given an older CRT type I-Mac a few months ago that would crap out and
shut down after a few hours use. Apple had a bad run of computers with this
problem - and to their dis-credit I am not aware of any campaign to replace
them. The repair board costs about $300 + $100 or so for labor. The failures
usually started to happen after the warranty period ran out.
I immediately suspected caps and replaced the suspect ones to no avail. On a
whim I noticed two similar opto-isolator chips and swapped them with each other.
The I-Mac has been running fine ever since.
The moral is that nearly any component can have some sensitivity that will cause
it to fail in one circuit but will work fine in another. Memory chips are also
notorious for this.
