[V8] Airbags and airheads revisited

A better description of the symptoms is;
The daytime dash lights (i.e. the stronger intensity dash lights) have failed. The night time (Headlights on) dash lights are fine.
The temperature control unit suddenly went into a mode where the fan status side is not lit. The temp control says that it is in "Auto" mode but I can run the fan speed allover the lot without the "Auto" mode kicking out.
All of this began when the local tech repaired the trip odometer and rep[laced bulbs in the clock. 
I am hesitant to let anyone else touch it because when they do they scar the dash or the trim. It makes me ill to see the carelessness.
The new owner will get a great car with lots of new parts and labor but with a flaw. The V8's seem to always want to have a flaw, it is their personality.
Am I paranoid or what?
