[V8] iPod... Do you?

... I opted for the 40GB myself ... early Christmas present too ... boy,
it is great to have one's entire record collection in their pocket! I
haven't worked out a permanent solution yet, but I really like the
Alpine setup my buddy has ... you can control the iPod from the deck, so
the iPod can get put pretty much anywhere. I've actually done a bit of
a search (unsuccessful so far) to see if I can't find the interface spec
for controlling the iPod ... with the hopes of perhaps creating a box to
allow a similar interface for the Gamma units (doesn't really make sense
on a Delta as these only have the RF modulated with separate remote for
the changer).
So far we're going for the mobile solution ... plug the cassette adapter
into the deck and the power adapter into the cigarette lighter socket.
On my former 4kQ I hardwired a Radio Shack dual cigarette lighter
adapter in behind the console so that things like radar detectors and
such can be plugged into a more standard US cigarette lighter socket ...
the console on the V8 is a bit better closed off, but a similar approach
should work ... perhaps using a panel mountable connector.
Since most of my commuting is done with only half a set of wheels, it is
great to be able to finally have some tunes in the background while
riding! Methinks Apple's going to do very well with this product ...
