Automatics..... Open Front, Open center with locking feature, Torsen rear

The center diff is always either locked or open. The trans computer receives
wheel speed info via the ABS module, if its missing one channel or senses a
difference in wheels speeds it will lock the diff. Possible
exception!!!....there seems to be an inhibit feature that prevents changing the diff mode under
braking...I know I never could get my 1990 to lock/unlock under braking.

Different sized tires can and will cause the TCU to lock the diff...as one
lister recently discovered.

 Manual Trans.... Open/Torsen/Torsen

Slamming Audi for not installing a locker or torsen up front misses the
point. At least you will always have some torque to both ends....which is 90%
better than 90% of everything else out there.
