Off V8 topic, but the folks that chimed in were helpful enough that I thought I'd update -- I just got a chance to look it over but the owner got caught up and couldn't meet me with a key.

Handy Infiniti toolkit had a hood-opening device, so I did get to poke around the engine bay at least. Most noticeable:
Boot on right side of rack is separated and exposing rack, tho no big leaks therefrom.
Brake MC looks to be leaking from under reservoir.
A/C belt not there, but owner claims functional.
Hoses to/from hydraulic reservoir are seeping.
Auto trans leaking -- without a lift it appears to come from the drain line hose plug deal, but can't be sure.
Trans dipstick removed and left lying on top support.
Both muffler-looking pieces are 7 seconds from total disintegration.
Rear wiper is all but gone -- probably inop.
Word is a couple windows are sporadic.
Rear tires worn on inside, less so up front. Guessing semi-recent rotation.

Body is very straight with zero signs of damage repair.
All lenses, trim, and whatnot are secure and intact.
Interior (cloth) is surprisingly clean and intact.
Bomb is dry, but no can test due to no access to inside.
Suspension is a bit soft but no leaky struts.
Color is stealth (read: unexciting bugundy-brown metallic) with some clear coat peeling in places.
Engine seems dry as far as oil leaks.

Was asking $1200, just reduced to $900. I'm not ruling out offering $500-700, but at this point I'm edging toward the door.

Do I start running? Is the rack and such as big a hassle as on a V8? I've never had an auto fwd T44, but list advice is to approach with caution.

This is partly rhetorical, as I don't want to spend a lot on this muffler, as they say, and it's pretty clear I should keep looking, but any more btdts might help.
