I wasn't losing that much, but I was losing enough to make it noticeable.  Come to find out, my heater core was leaking, and the coolant was evaporating when I turned on the heat or A/C, therefore I could never find a leak.  If yours is old (or original), it might not be a bad idea to replace it.  Replace the fan while you're in there.
