The inner joint has a circlip that is visible after you remove it and wipe off some grease. When the clip is removed the joint pulls right off the axle. The outer joint clip must be sheared apart as it cannot be accessed. This is done by threading in the replacement axle bolt. A good bit of torque should pop the joint off the axle. This proved easier said than done if my case. I just replaced all my front boots and repacked all the CV joints. I had removed the subframe and complete axle assemblies to do it. I am not sure, but it seems like the subframe would get in the way, making it hard to get to the inner joints.
