Subject: [V8] Kick down switch

OK, so for some reason my kick down switch stopped kicking down a while
ago... Any BTDT?

I thought someone had mentioned that it was located at the end of the
accelerator cable. I popped my air box to take a peek, but did not see it
(next the cruise control linkage)... I am now thinking that it might be
inside the car at the other end of the cable?

I haven't had a chance to look under the dash. Is there some adjustment
that can be made, or are these just prone to failure and need to be
replaced?

As a side note, I dumped a gallon of Toluene into the tank (2/3rds full).
According to Eliot's formula
(http://www.elektro.com/~audi/toluene/) I should be running around 93.5
Octane. I should have saved my gallon until I was down under a half a tank.
;-) Too bad 92 Octane is all we can buy around here...

I just pulled the ECU fuses to erase the adaptive memory. On my way home
tonight I'll see if it my $6 paint-store experiment was worth while and let
you guys know. The way fuel prices have been going up, it may be less
expensive to use Toluene. Let's see, 11gal of 92 Octane, 11gal of 114...
Works out to about 103 Octane... Does anyone know where I can buy a NASCAR
flame retardant refueling suit? :-)

Regards,

- Jeremy
