[V8] A6 list and synthetic oil???

I know this is off topic for this list, but as I haven't been able to find an A6 list I figured I'd throw this out there anyway.

My '96 A6 just passed 100,000 miles. It's time for an oil change and I'm considering switching to synthetic oil. My fear is that changing from conventional to synthetic oil is going to cause me all sorts of trouble with old seals. Any advice? Should I change or just stay with the conventional?

Also, does anyone know of a good A6 list?
