Well, they are in. Not what I wanted, especially in the sound, but they'll do for now. See, I was supposed to be first in this past Saturday, but guess what? They had a "3 hour" back log from Friday (I was there at 10 a.m.). Long story short, I didn't get them installed until 5, and we had to put them in truck boxes because they didn't have time to do anything special, and frankly, neither did I. I wanted something to fit on the deck of the trunk, but none of their prefab boxes would work. Too big, and they wouldn't fit around the 6x9s in the back deck. Oh well, I'm already thinking up some crazy fab stuff to allow them to come out to allow me to keep the space (I have to have the trunk space) and let me work on the stuff in the back if needs be.
The sound is too bassy, if that's possible. I really need to try that iso-bandpass idea out and vent it into the cabin via the skibag. I can tell that the trunk is insulated enough, because the subs don't "kick in" until about halfway up. You can hear them at lower volumes, to be sure, but then they do some overdrive thing and overpower everything. It's not as bad as I'm making it sound. True props to Audi; the only thing in the trunk that rattles is the license plate next to the trunk lid. Everything else is quiet. You can hardly tell that I have it loud on the inside; picture a muffled scream, and when I open the door, it is an all-out blast.
I probably won't get around to doing anything else until this summer, due to financial constraints. Well, check that, I won't be doing any speaker things until this summer. I'll be doing needed work over spring break. Look out Bill, here I come!
