[V8] Fuel Rail

Mike,

Believe it or not, but the fuel rail acorn nuts are only supposed to be
tightened to 7 ft lbs. Cross and return fuel lines 18 ft lbs and header
mounting nuts also 18 ft lbs.

Just a theory here, but maybe the nuts felt loose because the injector seals
shrunk? Haven't checked mine (yet).

something. A few weeks ago I was working on something and I had a 10mm in
my hand and I placed it over one of the cap nuts that hold the fuel rail
down. To my surprise it took a full turn! I hit the other 3 and they all
were not as tight as they should be. I dont know the spec for these bolts so
I did not want to over do it, so I just snugged them down. Just for kicks I
checked the header bolts. The bottom one on the drivers side closest to the
fire wall is a real PITA to get to but they were all but one in need of a
wrench as well. WHAT A DIFFERENCE when I drove the car! Instant throttle
response, mid RPM surging gone away, big ass smile on my face pulling to red
line! I think if your injector seals are in good shape this could help you
out. Also check the 12mm bolts on your headers. As for the rail nuts, does
anyone have the specs on how tight they should be? I would like to redo them
and know they are not o
