[V8] Engine Oil Quantity

Mine used to read full with a 10 qt fillup. At 8 qts it was near the top of the
bottom orange plastic doodaa on the stick. At one qt below this, it was near
impossible to read the oil level - hence the reason I cut one inch off the
dipstick tube. I can now read the level with only 5 qts in the crank case. When
I get properly motivated, I will mark the 5/6/7/8/8/10 qt marks on my "new"
dipstick.
At least in my case, the sump and dipstick were definately setup to read full
with a 10 quart fill.
