I have never seen an Audi TSB or any mention of dipstick replacement.
Was there a part changeover or a running change after the 1990 model
year?
V8Q #2 (later '90 build date) has the same dipstick as V8Q#1 (early '89
build date), and there's about a 1qt. difference at full level between
the two. Dipsticks are identical. Been running the dipstick at the full
mark at 10 qts. in V8 #1, and about 9 qts in V8Q #2 with no problems.
Oil consumption in V8Q #1 has been zero, did a 5000 mile run a while back
@ 10 qts. and was only about 1/4 quart low at the next oil change.
Can't comment on V8Q #2 until I get around to changing the valve stem
seals. Oil consumption is still surprising low considering the billowing
smoke she puts out after long coast at speed.
