I have had a similar experience with some rear calipers for my scirocco. They 
came in a Lucas Girling box and you could see the shadow of the factory 
emblem that they had ground off. I thought this was fairly standard practice 
however lately I've been seeing more items coming from non VAG sources in boxes with 
VAG logos on them. I would have thought that this would be a no no.
