[V8] Wheel offset

Actually et42 places the wheel further inboard than stock (et35). Your concern might be on the inner side. The wheel might be just fine but the tire may interfere.
I have fitted 17x9 et35 on mine with 255/40's and no problem. It's close, but works fine.
Let's see, my fitment puts the inner wheel rim 3/4 of an inch further inboard than the stock 7.5-inch wide rims. That's about 19mm.
You're fitment will put it 7mm (42-35) plus a 1/2-inch further inboard. (The 1/2-inch being half the difference between 8.5-inch rims and the stock 7.5-inch rims) That's a total of about 19.7 mm.
BUT! your wheel rim will also be a 1/2-inch further from the axle center. The relevance here is that my wheel rim is so close to my tie rod end that I can't fit my finger in between them. Your wheel rim will be further away from the axle so in effect further away from the tie rod end in that dimension.
I would guess that there won't be any interference there.
What size tire do you think you'll run?

So, will 18X8.5 wheels with an ET42 work on the V8q? Will that push the
bounds of the how far out I can stick em??
Thanx much,
