I sure can see that logic. You and Jason are probably right at least in regard to more pleats having more surface area making for a longer lasting filter. What's the service interval on these things anyway? Mine had been in for almost 30k miles.

I think it works the other way Ed. More pleats means more surface area means better air flow, and a longer lasting filter. The fact that the BMW app is a bit taller may equal things out though.
Because those filters are so much cheaper it may well be worth it to use them and replace more often.
