Wanted to replace the G82/83 temp sensors, so I went to Advance Auto Parts to get them. Got them ordered; came in with white plastic instead of black. No big deal, installed them, started the car, and the temp gauge went up to 110 C and the check engine light came on. I change out the G82 to the old one and the gauge started working again, but the check engine light stayed on. It would go away if the car got hot (read: near 100 C), but not for long. Anyway, to make a long story short, called Clair Parts and got the genuine Audi ones on the way. After install, gauge works fine and no check engine light.
