Ok,
  I'm sure that the purest will find this sickening - so quit reading now
or find a trash can and place it next to your desk, along with some clear
plastic to cover your monitor and keyboard.  Here goes my confession, I
have removed my intake and since they are rubber and not cork, I (gasp)
re-used the old intake gaskets.  My gaskets were still supple and I put a
very small amount of high temp black silicon on both sides.  To be
completely honest I have done this 3 times and have never had a problem
with vacuum or otherwise.  

                   Go ahead and form the lynching party,
