I have to agree on your description of the wife's A4. (I know this the 
"man's" V8 list... I'll keep it quick -- ;-)

I definitely prefer the solid, beefy feel, and especially the nice growl of 
my V8. But my wife's A4 1.8TQ sport ahhh yeahhh (17" wheels, summer tires on 
warm asphault, 5 speed of course - no tiptronic business...) That thing can 
be a kick in the pants to push through the turns. (low end torque problem 
sucks -- so you just pre-load the turbo and THEN let it rip... don't tell 
Audi Service I said that.)
