I, too, had a replacement windshield leak somewhere along the right
A-pillar. It was more of a trickle so water did not accumulate in large
amounts and I didn't notice any problems until half a year later when I
started having electrical gremlins. The water damaged the fuse/relay box
mounted to the A-pillar (the lower trays were thankfully spared!) and one of
the Air Conditioner programmer boxes underneath the dashboard. It's
amazaing how much damage a little water can do. An aftermarket V8 windshild
with antenna and appropriate accommodation for the VIN was installed for
around $350-400. It is holding tight!
I never got around to posting my thanks to Audi Connection, in particular
Keith Tackett but also Bruce, for their invaluable help when my car was
giving me real headaches (I hate electrical problems). Keith actually drove
all the way to Cleveland to sort through my problems! I doubt that I could
have gotten a local Audi mechanic to drive even just a few miles. The car
is running extremely
well and I really wanted to thank Keith and Audi Connection again for going
beyond the call of duty, and for taking such an active interest in helping
me to get my car sorted out.

Subject: [V8] Windshield replacement
Had my windshield replaced (under full insurance coverage) by Safelite last
fall. All was well until this spring. Suddenly developed a whole list of
electrical problems (no radio, clock, trip computer, interior lights,
etc)--checked, and sure enough, passenger footwell soaked! Dried it all out
and removed the carpets and trim pieces. Took a while but water was wicking
itself in along the passenger side of the windshield. Good news is that
Safelite owned up to this protracted defect. They replaced windshiled with
another new one and offered to pay for all necessary electrical
trouble-shooting. I found the problem source almost immediately--the water
had caused a short-circuit in the diagnostic plugs--cleaned them up,
replaced
blown fuse--all's well.
