[V8] Gearbox/cruisecontrol/air recirc problem

... there is no connection of any kind between the cruise control vacuum
plumbing and that for the HVAC system.  The former uses a separate pump and
the latter makes do with accumulated manifold vacuum.  I don't know anything
about V8 automatic transmissions, but I don't believe that any vacuum is
used there at all.  

On the fuel tank thing ... are you sure that it isn't above atmospheric
pressure that is being released?  I have seen that on a number of Audis I
own ...
