What I mean by the clutch is too small is that the
disc and plate are too small, assuming you have a
228mm disc.  It won't fit the shaft.  

Ya, sorry bout that.  Forgot to add in the O1E part
when I was including the S4 / S6 as possible tranny
donors.  I meant to say the 016, and 01E versions.  
Either way, it works!  

The reason I chose not to go with the O1E is because 
I got my entire donor 5kq for less than half the price
of the O1E transmission alone.  It was worth it to me
to substitute.  That, and because I don't know much
about the O1E transmissions.  They have several
differences, as you stated, and I didn't want to have
a fitment problem while car was up in the air in
pieces.  The 016s are a sure fit.
