All:
It has been quite a while since I have posted to the site...and have not even been keeping up with all of your own postings...however -
...I just received orders to Naples, Italy for 3 years. We are only authorized to ship one vehicle, and as much as I would like to take her and then pick up something there for the wife and kids to get around in, I can not subject The Beast to what her day-to-day life would be like in one of the worst cities on the planet for traffic, petty theft, fender benders, etc. Alas, I have made the decision, she will not be subjected to such a fate, and will be passed on to some worthy individual here in these United States.
Also, as we are shipping the family vehicle soon to ensure it is there when we arrive, I will need her until we fly out mid-to-late June. At that time, my parents (924, then 200 Turbo Q...) will then drive her back to whence she originally started her life in America - Bellevue, WA. For those that are not familiar, Bellevue is a suburb of Seattle...
So...she will be available at the end of June, 2004 if anyone is interested. Upon her arrival, if nothing has been locked on by that point, my parents will sell her via "regular" advertisement.
The basics:
- I am the second owner, original owner purchased and had her maintained at Barrier Audi of Bellevue. I have every single piece of paper...
- 1991 V8 5-speed. Pearl / Black.
- They lost the timing belt at 62K, just as the recall notice was being routed...so, Audi put in a new engine!
- I "forced" the owner to sell her to me at 90k, she is at 122k now. (Yes, that means there is only 60K on the engine...)
- Within the past year, I have had all the 90/120k work that I can think of done at Desert European Audi (Palm Springs) and Metro Audi (San Diego)...to include the Timing Belt (Yes, that means it is the first 60k change on this engine...), Hyd/Water pump, Brakes/Rotors (UFO's), Clutch, Serpentine Belt, etc.
- Everything works...and I mean everything.
- For those new V8 Listers not familiar with me and my Beast's endeavors...I am a Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier pilot stationed in the southwest corner of Arizona (a little town called "Yuma"...). This car does not know what traffic is, except for her trips to San Diego, Phoenix, San Francisco Bay Area, etc...Her daily life starts and ends in a garage, and in-between has seen triple digits on country roads to and from the base every day she makes the trip to work (...I have a motorcycle which I alternate with as daily transportation...). During one excursion to Tucson along I-8 east of Gila Bend, I set the cruise control at 140 for 20 unbelievable uninterrupted minutes, trips to and from Las Vegas on Highway 95 would take too long to describe...my point is this - she has been maintained and driven as it was meant to be...routine maintenance, and lots of long distance high speed cruising.
...time's up on the computer...that is all for now - I will check back later, however, the best way to get a hold of me is at -

Take care, and if anyone is interested, and lives in between Here (Yuma, San Diego, Phoenix area...) and Seattle...special arrangements can be made to see her on her trip north to Seattle at the end of June.
- Almost forgot! After we drop the family car off in LA for shipping to Italy, we will press north to the Bay Area to spend Easter with family. At that point we will be single car - The Beast - and could coordinate a meeting if anyone is interested.
...more later, gotta hit the rack,
Dino
