Bob,
I think this is a fairly common problem for the type 44 sunvisors. But, I
was able to find several spare visors that were not broken. The driver's
side mirror cover on my V8 suffers the same problem, the passenger side is
fine. I haven't bothered changing the sunvisor out solely for this
problem. I did replace the drivers sunvisor on the 100 because the pivot
hinge for the visor itself was broken. If you have any pick and pull yards
close by, it may be worth poking around in a few 5000's to see if you can
find some replacements. You may just want to take one apart to see if the
mirror cover hinge is something that could be fixed easily.
Cheers,
Ted Haug

The springs on the mirror cover are broken on both visors on my 90 V8. Is
this common? Will the used ones have the same issue. It's a pain, as
these
visors don't fully rotate up to the contour of the wind shield and that
cover falls down, further blocking your vision.

Having all the other hyd. Lines rebuilt by Spokane House of Hose I should
have had rebuilt the first time. :-) Then I can concentrate on the oil
leaks!

Christopher,
The sunvisors on the V8 are the same as those in the 100/200/5000's. So
finding one at your local salvage yard should not be difficult, or costly
for that matter. If you can't find one locally, you may want to try the
kind and knowledgeable folks at Audiconnection or Chris Semple at Force
Five. And if all else fails, I have a few laying around that I could part
with as well.

I have a broken sun visor and wasn't successful trying to fix the spring
inside of it. Besides that, the mirror cover was cracked, so it is ugly
even
if I do fix the spring. I was thinking of buying a replacement, but I don't
really need anything with a mirror & lights.
Is there an interchangeable sun visor that is less expensive?
