John,
You might prefer it _was_ the pump since it can be easier to deal 
with than the high-pressure hose replacement. Many posts--some fairly 
recent, IIRC--describe approaches to removing and replacing that hose 
(rebuilding by a qualified hydraulics shop is commonly done).
