The transmission fluid is usually cooled by the engine coolant.  The
in-radiator trans. cooler is usually a serpentine line inside the
radiator.  On many cars you can see the transmission cooler by looking
down into the radiator filler neck.

On some Audi's (I think most 1991 and up) with automatics there is a
separate cooler that's soldered on to the bottom of the radiator so you
have to change them both when either goes.  These cars usually have
larger fluid lines than the in-radiator type.
